Scamp

Well, Saturday a week ago, Cindy came home from Pet Smart and said she thinks our next kitty had found us. "Do you want to go back over later and see him?", Cindy asked.

So we went over later in the day...with the carrier...as there was also a 7 yr old Maine Coon cat. We have often talked about getting one if one came into One by One. He was a beautiful cat, but not as friendly as we hoped. He would probably have worked out if we did not have any other cats and could have devoted all our time to him.

Then we looked at Scamp, a 6 month old kitten. He would drop at your feet and roll over for a belly rub. We brought him home!!! He was shy at first, but by the next day, (after hiding for most of the day), he came out, and has been living it up ever since!!! He L O V E S attention...and belly rubs. He will be a lap kitty, but too much kitten in him yet...he gets distracted very quickly. The poor cat didn't have a very great start in life. He was left with 9 other kitties taped inside fruit boxes, so he apparently appreciates the life he's being given now. Thank goodness One by One came to the rescue. This is now the 3rd kitty we've adopted from them at Petsmart.

I did not like the name Scamp for him, he needed something special. Cindy and I talked about a new name, Linus or Schroeder from the Peanuts cartoon. Tuesday I was off, so I was on the computer when "Scamp" came over for petting. Talked to him about which name he would prefer, Linus, or Schroeder. About 10 min. later I hear the keys on the piano..turn around and there is "Scamp" with his paws on the piano keys!!!! Well..I guess we have to name you Schroeder, after the piano playing, Beethoven admiring Charles Shultz character.

Was it coincidence.......or just timing on his part??? Or is he one smart kitten??? In no way will he replace Peaches, but he has a lot of similar actions. Good addition to the family, now at 6 again. He and Maggie are playing together, the rest are adjusting slowly to the new "rug rat" of the family.
